Would not recommend this gym to anyone

Signed up for the Black Friday deal. I was VERY clear about only wanting to sign up for the R99 deal (the duration of which was 6 months) - this was very CLEARLY OUTLINED to the consultant who was signing me up and he agreed that I would only be signing my contract for that duration. Firstly, you end up paying more than the advertised price because of other fees imposed.

Secondly, after 6 months, without any notice I suddenly start getting charged R599 for a standard membership with no benefits (no nationwide access, black tag etc). When I called the branch to enquire what was going on, they said that I had moved to a standard membership and had a 24 month contract which was on the contract I had signed: - to be noted: the contract was provided only AFTER signing it and after being clearly told I was signing up for 6 months - when I called to cancel the contract, I was told that I had to either pay a lump sum of R3000+ or pay the full membership fee of R599 for 4 months (take note that no other gym has this term and most will just charge you a portion of 1 month’s fee to terminate)

I contacted both the branch and the head office and both are unwilling to rectify the situation stating that I signed the contract even after I told them that I EXPLICITLY told the consultant that I would only be signing up for the 6 month duration and being told that that was fine but apparently that does not serve as a good enough notice for them

Honestly, it’s better to sign up at another gym than these people. The service even within the club was subpar. No intro to club facilities provided and a general unwillingness to help from staff. Would strongly recommend that you gym elsewhere
