Utter Incompetence at Planet Fitness
Signed up at Planet Fitness Queenswood in Dec 2018. The guy who signed me up had no clue what he was doing and signed me up on a 24 month contract instead of 12 months (as per discovery vitality guidelines). Got a call from the manager asking to come back in and sign a different (12 month) contract since the guy who initially handled my contract was *********** and no longer worked at the gym. Went to the gym to sort out the contract, provided all the necessary documents, including a statement from my previous gym stating that my vitality agreement ended with them. My first debit order for my supposed to be 12 month contract at Planet Fitness was on 02/01/2019. And according to my calculations and the date I signed my contract should have run out at the end of Dec 2019. Ive been in contact with Planet Fitness since November 2019 to try ensure that my contract does not continue on a month to month basis but Ive had no luck. Every time I phone they have a different excuse as to why my contract has not yet run out. I even received an sms stating that my contract will end in January 2020 and will continue on a month to month basis if I do not phone to cancel. I again phoned numerous times with no success. I phoned yesterday and was told that my contract only ends at the end of February. I again phoned this morning and was told that I am in fact on a 24month contract, upon stating that I was called back to sign a 12 month contract their story changed and my contract now apparently was only active from the 1st of March 2019, never mind the fact that they already debited my account on 02/01/2019. I also paid the discovery vitality activation fee back in Dec 2018 already. I am utterly disappointed by the complete lack of competence. The staff at Planet Fitness Queenswood clearly had no idea what they were doing and I am now left having to pay for a gym membership I can no longer use since I am leaving to work in Australia for 2 years. Disgusted with the service in trying to solve this issue.
