Unwilling to accept ANY payment arrangement for a membership I will never use again! Unacceptable

I signed up for a membership in July 2017 and as life happened I was unable to keep up with the payments.

I have since been pleading and begging the accounts department telephonically and via email to accept an arrangement for a payment of R200.00 per month until such a time that I can get up to date or settle the balance and terminate the membership.

This was not accepted or accommodated in any way.

A lady from my home club suggested that I get up to date and then freeze my membership - which I was more than willing to do...

Then I was contacted by the accounts department...

The call center agent was extremely rude, arrogant and not willing to help me sort the above out in any way at all.

He offered a 50% discount on what is outstanding - but demanded that it must be paid on 23 November 2017. I explained to him that I will only be getting paid on the 24th of November and asked if the offer can be extended one day. He refused.

I agreed to pay and asked for my membership to be frozen after the payment has been received (as offered above) but this was refused as well.

I was also informed that I will be double debited in December and will need to be ready for that debit order.

This sort of spite was not received well as I have been explaining my financial situation to them and have been begging to keep paying them at more doable terms.

Not accepted.

As I have spoken to the club, the accounts department and the head office and received the same response all that is left to do is to wait for the account to be handed over (as I have been told that I cannot avoid this by a payment arrangement - which I'm fairly certain is not in line with the CPA).

I will offer the same payment arrangement to the legal department.

I hope that my review receives at least enough attention to warn prospective members that should they come into a financial bind Planet Fitness will not accept a payment arrangement and insist to take money you don't have for a service which you will no longer be able to use.

Exploiting those at the lower end of economy to make themselves rich!
