Unprofessional Staff and Declining Conditions

I’ve been a member at the JustGym Glenanda branch for a while, and the experience has declined noticeably. I’m not sure if there’s been a change in staff, but the front desk team doesn’t greet members anymore. Today was especially disappointing when the two female staff members at the entrance actually laughed as I walked in and out. Not the first time employees act this way either. On top of that, several machines (especially treadmills) are regularly out of order, barbell pads are essentially non-existent (its been the same 2 pads for the last few years), grips on machines are broken, and the gym has almost no ventilation besides air from the front door. A few weeks ago, the air inside was thick with hookah smoke drifting in from Don Pablos, which made training extremely uncomfortable. If you’re looking for a positive, welcoming, and well-maintained gym environment, unfortunately this gym isn't it.

Hi Chantel,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologise for the issues you’ve encountered at the Glenanda branch. What you’ve described regarding staff behavior, equipment maintenance, and the overall environment does not reflect the standards we strive to uphold for our members.

We take your feedback very seriously and will escalate these concerns to the branch management team immediately. Your comments about equipment, cleanliness, and ventilation will be reviewed, and appropriate action will be taken to ensure a safer and more welcoming environment for all members.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

Regards,
The Planet Fitness Team.  💙

Reviewer Update
Update:

  • Front desk staff still do not acknowledge members entering or leaving.
  • Three treadmills froze consecutively last week when attempting to reduce speed after a run, which is a safety concern.
  • Barbell pads were removed and replaced with only one for the entire gym. With at least two Smith machines, surely 2 is a MINIMUM?
  • Machine grips remain broken.
  • The floor around some of the benches is very uneven.
  • There is still no ventilation in the facility.
  • Counters on several assisted machines remain non-functional

Given the number and nature of these concerns, I am starting to question whether the gym is compliant with basic health and safety standards and whether regular equipment and facility inspections are being conducted.
