Unfair charges

I recently opened a membership where I explained to the person who was helping me open one that I just got a job and I'm not sure if I'll be employed for more than 3 months since well it was a contract employment. The guy didn't even wait for me to finish the 3 months and see if I'll be permanent or what. He registered me without even telling me that I'll have to pay R1000 and something for cancelling. Shap I didn't even go to the gym once, and haven't paid my first month and I want to cancel, the consultant then tells me that I have to pay R1000 and something for cancellation fee, to cover the 3 months. That time I didn't even go to the gym once, not even for half a day or one day. Can someone please help because now I lost my Job and I don't know how I'll pay for that R1000 and something. And 72 hours has passed, that was the deadline for payment.
