The true sinister nature of planet fitness

This review will take a deep inside look into the sinister nature behind this company, I have gone over several hundreds of reviews from hello peter and google reviews to make sure this review is as objective as possible and gets a big picture of whats going on in this dreadful place.

It's very clear that planet fitness puts most of its time and effort into its sales reps, all the rest of the money is spent on gym equipment. They will try as hard as possible to get you to sign the damn contract and once signed it opens a pit to hell itself. Almost as if you have sold your very soul they now will try to squeeze as much money as they can out of you by doing accidental extra debits, overcharging, adding extra fees (ex admin), and if you by chance have to cancel they can charge anywhere from R3000 - R10000.

if you don't pay they will send debt collectors after you very shortly, I'm talking 20-30 days, then they will send their attorneys (here's a link to their review page https://www.hellopeter.com/landau-attorneys). Like the debt collectors, they will try to harass you with several phone calls and emails requesting you pay an ever-growing amount, my payment grew from R1600 to R3800.

I tried to settle a dispute directly with planet fitness but all I received were automated bot responses and if it was a person they would only respond with please deposit *** amount. No real conversations. Finally, the debt collectors got a hold of me and I tried to dispute but like a broken phone, their only response was pay, please. Then the attorneys came for me and were also like a broken phone or a parrot "please pay" please pay". No option to have a real conversation or dispute.

Planet fitness is not selling a gym membership, a membership should be something you can join and leave freely with no huge penalty. That is what a phone contract is for. Planet Fitness makes no loss if you sign up for a month and leave. They are greedy *******s.
