Ridiculous Activation Fees

We joined Planet Fitness last year November as a Discovery Vitality member however I have recently changed over to Sanlam Reality. I have now been told in order to link my Sanlam Reality to my membership I have to pay activation fees for both myself and my husband of almost R2000. Our contracts are coming to an end in 2 months however they expect me to pay these fees. I feel this is ridiculous and I do not want to be a member of Planet Fitness any longer as they cannot even wave these activation fees for existing members.
