Prescribed debt

Good day, On the 30th of October 2024 I tried to join planet fitness, and I received a message saying I cannot because I owe old fees, my understanding was that my membership was s****ped as I communicated with them that I lost my job and won't be able to pay, I was informed that my membership would stop, so I now don't understand how I owe almost R10k, according to my knowledge this debt would have prescribed and I fully understand if they don't want to sign me up as member, but the debt.

According to the Prescription Act 68 of 1969, a debt is prescribed if during the past three years; You did not admit to owing on the debt, either verbally or in writing; You have not made payment towards the outstanding amount; summons was not issued and served on you.

It's almost 10years later..
