Predatory Sales Tactics & Unauthorized Debit Orders!

I was approached by a Planet Fitness sales consultant who was extremely persuasive about a "low monthly fee" - but what he was actually doing behind the scenes was a completely different story. While sweet-talking me into handing over my bank details under the guise of a simple assessment, he was setting up a debit order without my knowledge or consent. No contract was signed. No terms and conditions were explained. Critical details like cancellation fees were deliberately left out of the conversation.

When I confronted him and asked his manager to sign and confirm the terms we had discussed, both went completely silent and admitted they could not honour what had been said. That tells you everything.

The moment I handed over my banking information, a debit order was immediately loaded for the upcoming month - before I had agreed to anything in writing.

This is textbook mis-selling. I was **** to about what I'd be paying (e.g. leaving out canlation fees / telling me to deal with a different company for that), and manipulated into giving up my bank details under false pretences. This all took over a week of my life trying to sort this out and then the mess they created - time I will never get back.

These tactics are not aggressive sales - they are deceptive and potentially *****ulent. If you are considering joining Planet Fitness Wanderers do NOT hand over your banking details until you have a signed contract in hand that matches exactly what you were verbally promised. And if something feels off, trust your gut - it probably is.
