Planet Fitness - Trapped

I joined planet fitness (Morningside) believing it would be better than the Virgin Active experience - omw. It's amazing how good any service is until the contract is signed. The first 2 months is a 'grace' period to enable cancellation at the previous gym, and then the real payments kick in. So I am debited R599 twice on 01 Dec - although I am with Vitality. When I query this on the first working day of Dec, I am informed that I need to sign another contract for Vitality and the double deduction is due to an Annual Levy (not highlighted when signing the contract). I now have to pay the Vitality joining fee of R799 and PF are unwilling to reverse the mistake of deducting R1200 even though there was no follow up to inform me that the Vitality contract needed to be in place in month 3. Here's the kicker - If I do not pay the joining fee, the membership will continue at R599 pm. Should I wish to cancel the current contract, this will be at 30% of the cost of the remaining contract term. So either way I am *****ed. PF Morningside shrug and are unwilling to make a plan to reverse the double deduction - so I pay the joining fee as should I cancel, on the Vitality contract it will at least be at a reduced rate. When I signed with PF, I queried the R599 stated on the contract and was told not to worry about it as I would be with Vitality once my Virgin membership is cancelled, so this would not impact me - boy has it impacted. The sales guy is 'sorry' - that's little repose for R1200.
