Planet Fitness sucks

I called Planet Fitness's head office on the 27 Aug 2024 wanting to cancel my gym membership....I knew I could cancel my contract by giving 4 months notice, which I still will need to pay the monthly fee. The consultant who assisted me stated that there was no need to give 4 months notice as I had less than 5 months left on my contract and that I will be able to give 2 months notice, I then proceeded with my request and that being before my debit order date, I was informed I will pay for the month of September 2024 and October 2024. Mind you I still made a follow up call on the 15 October 2024 to double check if my contract was indeed cancelled. Debit orders that went off my account was the 1 August (before I cancelled) 31 August (after I cancelled) and the 1 October (last payment according to my 2 month cancelation request) Out of the blue on 29 November 2024 I received an sms stating my debit order will go off on the 30 November 2024. I contacted Planet Fitnese once again and said that I already canceled my policy in August, to which I received a response I need to pay a penalty fee, I explained to the consultant that was not what I was told and that I'm not happy with it. She checked her system agreed that I did intact cancel but there was a systems error on their side. I was told that I should then just reverse the payment (which I am not able to do by the way) if it goes off and that she will contact me on Tuesday (3 December 2024) The amount that was deducted was R2397.....how is that even possible if my gym contract was R738.20. Best part is I even received an email on the 2 September 2024 with a reference number because I canceled and was called by the cancelation department to confirm my cancelation request stating how sorry they are to see me go but if I consider to join within 30 days or even 60 days no extra fees will apply not even a joining fee. Dear Planet Fitness cancelation department I want my money return as soon as possible. I did consider rejoining at a later stage 2025 but now after this stunt was pulled, I will not consider it at all nor would I recommend any of my friends or family to join
