Planet Fitness punishing members for downgrading

Got a black tag in 2017 as I took a friend along. Paid not a single cent to UPGRADE and it was done very quickly. So end of December 2020, I noticed that I am now paying R399 pm for Just Gym membership (I can join Virgin Active with a sauna and swimming pool for R50 extra), so I decided to revert back to a gray tag, only to be told I have to pay a downgrade fee of R200! This is absolute madness! I had my contract with JG since 2016 and this is how they thank me for being a loyal customer who had a fully paid up membership during lockdown, by penalizing me with R200 just because I need to save some money! So I duly cancelled my contract, and once the pandemic is over, I might consider returning to JG, or I might go to Virgin Active.
