Planet Fitness Promo Deals

A Caution to everyone with any Promo Deals from Planet Fitness & Sanlam (or other affiliated companies).

Planet Fitness R299 Deals... So popped by their Midrand Branch to check the offer out. Those guys will say anything to get you to signup keeping hidden terms and conditions that will ***** you over later during your contract period. Even when I asked about cancellation due to unemployment… Yeah they got you covered, one of their consultants will arrange a payment plan that will best suite YOUR NEEDS. What led to a promotion of paying R299 per month escalated to me now paying R799 per month.

The R299 deal was never a straightforward offer... halfway through signing up ****erally filling out the form), you will find, you need to signup with Sanlam Reality to get this discount.

So that is R299 for Planet Fitness, then another R125 for Sanlam. Now that is R424 which kind of defeats the purpose, so I declined... But they will persuade you with all the discounts and amazing offers you will get as you build points, etc. So, like a fool I agreed, thinking that it will benefit me down the road with all these amazing discounts I will get. Even threw in a free Buddy Tag, and knowing that if I need to cancel… they got me covered.

**** was I wrong... Sanlam will be hounding you with products for you to signup, after a few months of not accepting any of their policies or medical aid, they reduce your gym discount increasing your gym fees to R599,20... Now I am paying R599,20 to Planet Fitness and R125,00 to Sanlam Reality which is R724,00… and believe me when I say, I got nothing out of the Reality membership discounts and savings.

So anyways... bite my teeth and pay it cause if I cancel, I will have to cough up +- R2000 in cancellation fee.

Comes January 2024, now I am out of work, so I need to free up expenses... R724 is a big expense now days. So the Midrand branch wont help me, need to call their call centre… Finally, I manage to get a cancellation logged in. Next day I get a consultant calling me telling me how much he cares for my healthy and persuades me to accept a 2 month credit, allowing me time to get a new job and I can continue... he will get in touch with me end of July to check my status, if he doesn’t here from me... the cancellation will take place and a cancellation fee of R1600 is owed to them which they will debit over a 2 month period. So I’m like… that’s fair. Guess what bru, they *****ed you over again.

Yeah... its August now and they still debiting me R799 a month... upon contacting them, they said I accepted not to cancel by accepting the 2 month credit, and due to me no longer being a Sanlam Reality member, additional fees for Sanlam Reality cancellation applies.

So well done to Planet Fitness and Sanlam for *****ing over people who are just trying to afford a decent gym within their budget. I wish I had the work ethics like you guys when it comes to draining the peoples pockets out of money.
