Planet Fitness policy cancelation for a month to month contract

Planet fitness was the gym I went to as I loved close to the area. Is it a good gym? The equipment is a little bit faulty and the air is sometimes hot, however, they try. I signed a one year contract which came to an end in March. They didn't contact me to ask if i would like to remain a member and placed me on a month to month contract without me knowing of this. I then told them I wanted to cancel and they first tried to give me a discount rather than have me discontinue using the gym. I am so upset because going to this gym for a year was what I had to do to get out of paying an extra cancelation policy. Don't be fooled. They have just changed me a policy cancelation fee which is not stipulated in the contract to do so. It should of been a quick cancelation no strings attached. Planet Fitness are ****** and even if I end up living close to one I won't go there and if people tell me they want to join I will give many reasons why they should avoid doing so. How can they take money off my account when I have finished my contract already! This is appalling behavior and very ******* too. Please help me get a refund.
