Planet Fitness misrepresenting facts and selling bad contracts
Planet Fitness is robbing me. The Heuweloord branch misrepresented facts for me to join and **** to me that my son could come with me to the gym and sit in the lounge area. For 6 months they let me come with him. Then a very rude General Manager threw me out of the gym infront of other patrons despite my pleas that I have brought my son for 6 months. He reduced me to tears and **** to me the the gym with children facilities was 5km away and transferred me there without telling me my subscription would increase by 200 rands. Now Planet Fitness is demanding that I honour their contract which they misrepresented facts and demand I pay a cancellation fee and worse still for an amount I never agreed to at a gym which they **** was close to my house. I have reported this matter to the Consumer Goods and services Ombudsman but they have still handed me over to debt collectors before we have obtained a Ruling. According to due process they cannot proceed before there is a Ruling but Planet Fitness disregards the measures put in place by the South African Legislation to protect consumers. I have pleaded with them to speak to a person in charge but Zein Van Staden and Mr G Engelbretch have refused to allow me to speak to anyone else but them. I have written a letter to the CEO and I am still waiting for a reply. It can be found on https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=***&id=***
My experience is Planet Fitness will sell bad contracts shrouded in lies and ensure that they keep you in these contracts. Planet Fitness will not listen to you, will ignore due process and hand you over to mess your credit record so that you are forced to pay.
