PLANET FITNESS MISLEADING NEW GYM JOINERS

After weeks of seeing the big adverti*****t board for Planet Fitness Queenswood, I stopped there today to join the gym. As per their adverti*****t board, subscription is R299 p/m. Next to the R299 there is a '*' and at the bottom of the board it says T's&C's : Offer valid for the first 6 months on a 24 month contract. When I speak to one of the sales consultants however, I am told that the R299* only applies to the 1st two months of the contract after which the monthly fee will be R399 p/m. Also, although the advert board does say that tag fee is not included, there is an additional R100 registration fee which is nowhere mentioned on the board. In other words, you will only have 1 month at R299. I then ask to speak to the manager as I am not satisfied. I am told to speak to the sales manager. No name given, I just have to ask at the desk inside. Inside I am told the sales manager EUGENE will be with me shortly. After waiting a few minutes he introduces himself and I proceed to ask him about the promo deal as per their advert board. Once again I am told that the R299* only applies to the 1st 2 months of the contract. When I show him the photograph of their advert board, he very smugly says but it does say T's & C's. I point out to him that the T's & C's are specified on their advert board, But still he smugly says T's & C's. When I ask him if T's & C's mean that they can change anything about what is said on their advert board, he says yes. Still not satisfied, I ask him for his supervisors contact information. He, still very smugly, replies that he is the person who makes the decisions, and there is nobody I can talk to other than the call centre. I asked him if he is the owner of PF, to which he very smugly replies, no he is not, but he is the person in charge. Well obviously he is not, and I simply asked one of the other sales people to give me the contact number for the area manager, Lizelle Bosch. He very kindly gave me the name and the head office number. Now I am also curious to know how many people will cancel their contracts after realising that PLANET FITNESS did not sell them the package as per their adverti*****t boards. I will personally notify the local RECORD and other news outlets of the area of this grievous misconduct. Although I am sure that PF has a very competent legal department to deal with these false advertising issues, I think my photographs of their misleading adverti*****t board will go a very long way to make the residents of the Moot are aware of PF dishonesty.
