Planet Fitness is a ****

Planet Fitness is a ****. They convinced me to join their gym (In Middelburg Mpumalanga) by telling me that they were running a promo where I’d pay R299 per month. What they never mentioned was that the promo would run for only 3 months then the price would go back to the normal price. After 3 months, they deducted R1200 from my account and when I asked why they did that, they told me that the promo ended. I immediately asked to cancel my membership with them and they agreed, they told me I’d have to pay a cancellation fee of R3670. Indeed, my membership was cancelled with them, but I never paid the cancellation fee. They then sent a debt collector (Saya Recoveries) to collect the cancellation fee of which I made an arrangement with them to pay monthly until it is paid in full. After paying in, Saya recoveries confirmed with me verbally that I had indeed finished paying the debt. When I asked for a paid up letter, they said they’d send it in a month’s time. A month later, they sent me a statement that showed I still owed R560.00 and when I asked them (Saya Recoveries) they said it was an instruction from Planet Fitness to collect the amount as it was still outstanding. I refused to pay the R560 and a week later I spoke to Saya Recoveries team leader/supervisor and he told me that the matter was still being investigated and they’d come back to me as soon as it is resolved. A week later from that moment, Planet Fitness debited R299 from my account and on that same day, I got an sms from Saya Recoveries stating that I needed to pay R1500 in 24 hours to my planet fitness account or legal action would be taken against me. To this day, I’m still fighting with planet fitness and I have decided to hand over the matter to lawyers which I had to pay. So if anyone wants to join planet fitness, just know that you are inviting the devil himself into your life
