PLANET FITNESS - DOESN'T CARE ENOUGH TO CORRECT THEIR OWN ERROR.

Planet Fitness couldn't give a damn about any of their customers during these difficult times. If you are planning on joining a fitness group, chose any other group besides Planet Fitness. I joined Planet Fitness Springs just before Covid19 hit us last year. Due to the covid, the company I were I was working decided to move to another town. A letter was given out to all staff that those who cannot relocate, could expect retrenchment. Plus my husband was retrenched due to the Covid pandemic. I therefore wanted to cancel my contract early. I spoke to someone at the call centre and they informed me that to cancel a contract early I would have a penalty of R798. At the time I couldn't afford it, but a couple of months later managed to borrow the money. I went into Planet Fitness Springs and paid the R798 to cancell my contract, after confirming with that person that the amount to cancell my contract was correct. I paid and was told that my contract would be cancelled. I never received any statements, via email or mail, and therefore did not suspect that my contract had not been cancelled. Four months later, I noticed that my Planet Fitness debit order had been taken off my account. This was the first time I had any knowledge that the staff at Planet Fitness was useless and did not cancel my contract and in fact had my payment reflect as an advance payment. I was NOT given any instruction to call the call center to instruct them that the payment was done and my contract could be cancelled. They can look at their camera footage if they have one, and see that I was told that everything would be taken care of. I had even shown the letter I had from my company and explained my situation, but they did nothing. Now, I'm trying to get the incorrectly debited amount to be refunded and they won't. They are now saying that I can only cancel in August, WHEN I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR THE CONTRACT TO BE CANCELLED. My husband is STILL LOOKING FOR A JOB, after almost a year, HOW THE HELL DO THEY EXPECT A PERSON TO R400 A MONTH WHEN WE ARE STRUGGLING TO MAKE END MEET. PLANET FITNESS IS THE MOST USELESS COMPANY WHO WONT EVEN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND CORRECT AN ERROR. DON'T JOIN THEM, WHATEVER YOU DO. ONE NEVER KNOWS WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS AND IF YOU LAND IN FINANCIAL PROBLEMS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, THEY REALLY COULDN'T CARE.
