Planet Fitness - DO NOT EVER JOIN! Their very foundations are built on dishonesty and ****s

NEVER EVER JOIN A PLANET FITNESS- That's the advise I'd give to anyone considering joining a gym. My whole fiasco started in 2019/2020 when my friend joined Planet Fitness, convinced me to consider joining them and then me going to talk to one of their sales consultants. The sales consultant said that they had a special running at the moment, but that I'd have to decide NOW if I wanted to join or the "special" won't apply anymore. I told her repeatedly that I can't make such a commitment without speaking to my (then) boyfriend (now husband) and that I have a special needs baby. Eventually she said okay and gave me an alternative, which was that I pay a small amount for her to (I quote) "keep your spot" to still be eligible for the special should I decide to join after I spoke to my partner. She said I should fill in the paperwork so long, then when I decide to join, I'd still qualify for the special. I signed it and she said that I have a week to make up my mind and speak to him. Before the week was over, she called me asking for my student card, which I don't have as I'm not a student and she said but then I don't qualify for the special. I said it's fine, I have decided NOT to join, because my baby needed extra attention and therapy and I won't get time to go there. I have no recollection of speaking to her again. At the end of that month, they deducted money from my account. I called and they said I have an account there but I explained the situation to them and they kept directing me to other people within the company. Every month thereafter, they took money from my account, which I reversed. I have tried numerous times to sort out the problem, but I reach a dead end every time. How is it possible for me to be a "member" if I never joined them to start with? I have never been contacted to even collect a card or tag or whatever they gain access with, nor do I have a membership number or ANYTHING! Eventually they stopped trying to take payments and I thought the issue had been resolved only to find, almost a year later, that I have been handed over!!!!! This is ***** and I will absolutely handle it as such! Luckily when this person pitched their "sale" my friend was with me and can bear witness to all this. I am so utterly disappointed in this gym. Their empire is built on ****s and their foundations are laced with dishonesty.
