Planet Fitness charging me although my contract ended almost 2 years ago!!!

When I first arrived to the country I've registered to Plant Fitness, I gave more then 30 days notice that I'm not renewing my membership. I left the country on the end of July cause my working visa expired, that was in 2017. I returned now to the country with new working visa just to find out that Planet Fitness charging me since October 2018 (more then a 1 year after my membership was cancelled) for more then R4000!!!!! I've received a phone call today saying that my contract is on auto renewal?!?!?! If it was on auto renewal why are they charging me only a 1.5 years after??? Also, I found out that if I want them to cancel my contract (which ended a while ago) apparently I need to pay R3000 but the lady on the phone said she's willing to give me a 50% discount. I've never heard on something like that!!!!! I need to pay cancelation fee for something that I've already cancelled?!?!?! What's wrong with them???? They are taking advantage of the foreigners! I've never heard something like that before! After chatting to this lady I've called my friend that reminded me that I've canceled it more then 30 days before my membership expired and that they even gave me something to sign to confirm it. If I wasn't back into the country they would have continue charging me! I'm really disappointed! That is not a way to serve customers, they are using the fact that people are not aware for things. I will never register to them again nor recommend to my friends and other people to register! Cause once you in apparently it's a lifetime contract.
