Planet Fitness Cancellation is ridiculous

I have requested cancellation in Feb 2020 which was Quoted @ roundabout R1400 I have to pay in, which was fine by me, I then said I will do a request in March as my common sense tells me the cancellation fee would be less. I requested cancellation in May 2020 within lockdown I received an automated response from the system that planet fitness cannot help as they are closed.

I then received the call in October 2020 and now the Price has jumped by almost an R1000 to R2400, how is this possible?

The agent also told me they have automatically added additional 4 months to my contract after they know I want to cancel.
