PATHETIC SERVICE AND EMPLOYEES AT PLANET FITNESS JUST GYM SCOTTSVILLE, *********** STAFF.
I have a complaint regarding staff at the planet fitness gym in Scottsville as well as the way I was treated which I did not appreciate at all.
I was in the aerobics/yoga room, doing some stretches and yoga. I don't have a full range of motion with my shoes on and I want to increase my flexibility. I have previously trained in that room and trainers have seen me, once I've even walked from the room to the change room barefoot and nobody had batted an eye.
However yesterday, out of all days one of the trainers decided to send another member of staff to tell me to put my shoes on. I asked that person where were the signs in the studio that said I needed shoes on at all times and he said he didn't know and kept walking away from me as I was speaking to him. I went to get a printout of my contract and there was nothing on it which said anything about shoes being on all the time.
The only signs in that room were about sweat. There were 2 of the same signs!
I asked the trainer why he asked me to out my shoes on in that room because there wasn't a sign in there and also it wasn't on my contract and him and another trainer kept on going on about unrelated 'examples' which made no sense as there are no heavy weights in that room. Either way if a 20kg weight fell on my foot, shoe or not, it will still be fractured and planet fitness would not be held liable as I had signed the liability clause of the contract.
He was not able to give me answers and called the manager(candy) to speak to me. So I showed her the printed contract and she also couldn't find the part about shoes being on in the studio. She went to her office and brought a rules and regulations sheet which stated that appropriate exercise clothing and athletic shoes be worn, it did not specify where, when and by whom, it also didn't state that it needs to be worn at all times or just whilst training, that is an extremely ambiguous statement that people can perceive differently however according to her, only her perception was correct.
I also proceeded to ask her about the signs as therer were 5/6 signs about clothing and shoes in the heavy weight section but none in any of the studios. She had informed me that only 2 signs were allowed per studio, so I asked why there were 2 of the same signs and she said that's just how it is, so I suggested that they can put 1 about sweat and another about shoes and she just shoved my suggestion aside saying theres a limit to how many signs can be in the gym, I also suggested that in place of the graffiti on one of the walls a simplified version of the rules can be painted so it's not exactly a sign and no 'sign rules' are being broken, again, she shot it down and was not open to my constructive criticism, feedback or suggestions, it seems like she had just wanted to be right and prove only her point and not listen to what I had to say. I felt like she had tried to make me feel stupid and *********** compared to her as I was a student and she was the manager of the gym, she kept on telling me she was the manager and something about operations as well.
I still have no idea why the trainer had chosen that day to victimize me and then not be able to answer any questions I have which proves that they may not be trained properly and lack knowledge relating to the rules and regulations as they never referred to that the entire time, they kept on pointing to the signs and giving me their 'examples'.
I felt extremely victimized and ostracized.
That coupled with how I was treated by staff I am going to terminate my contract with Planet fitness JustGym Scottsville as I don't want to be around staff led by a manager with that kind of attitude and also staff that ***********. I don't fully understand why I need to pay 30% of my fees owing either as I would've stayed full term and also renewed my contract when it had ended if I had not been treated like that by the staff at the gym. I am now extremely dissatisfied with the level of service received.
I am a student and it is quite difficult for me to find R249 a month but I did it to keep healthy and fit and this is what I have to show for it.
I've tried contacting planet fitness during March to terminate my contract and they didn't give me banking details nor email be anything related or get back to any web query until today where I was informed I will have to pay a R373 cancelation fee plus my fees for this month where I didn't attend at all and tried canceling before the month began but couldn't due to their stupidity.
