Outstanding R456 is now over R12,000??

2014 I cancelled my account with Planet Fitness. I was then informed that I would need to pay a cancellation fee. The amount was R912.00 which was to be paid off over 2 months.<br> <br> The first payment was made in July 2014 and due to an error on my behalf the second amount was not paid. This was a simple error which could have been resolved by reminding me. This should not have been difficult as I was receiving many calls and emails from them up until that point.<br> <br> I was not contacted in any way after that by phone, email, text or letter in over 542 days and on Friday last week I received a call from a collections company informing me that I owe R12,035.67<br> <br> I find this completely distressing and totally unfair as not once was I contacted or informed that the arrears was compounding.<br> <br> I understand that I failed to pay the R456.00 and I am happy to live up to my financial responsibilities however this bill is completely unreasonable. Please note that I also sent Planet Fitness a cancellation letter at the time.<br>
