Misinformed and under trained staff make promises Planet fitness will not keep

Who knew that transferring from one club to another would be such a unpleasant experience. When i hear a new club was about to open much nearer to my workplace i was eager to transfer there as soon as it opened. I was unable to get any relevant information on the website and lodged a query regarding transferring my contract. I received a call, in due course, and was told it was possible and that i should visit the club and speak to a sales person about the process. My plan was to go to the club before moth end, so i could transfer on the 1st of december. I specifically asked if i would be assisted at the club as early as 7:00 in the morning, and was assured that i would be able to speak to a sales person that early. But when i got to the club on the 29th of November at seven i was told that the sales staff only came in at nine. Instead i attempted to find out about transfers from my initial club, but they could not assist me. I was eventually able to see a sales person at the new club early in december, but het advised me that the two clubs (being a mega club and a smaller just gym club) did not have similar contracts and that i could not transfer directly. I was told that i would have to cancel my old contract and open a new contract with the new club. I was again sent back to my initial club to find out when my contract ended as i would have to pay a cancellation fee and payment thereof would likely counteract any financial benefit i would gain from going to the smaller less expensive club. Once i did this i lodged another query with the call centre as i was starting to lose confidence with the personnel at the clubs. Based on this call i felt confident that doing the transfer would be worthwhile as my contract ended in march, i believe it was on this call that i was told that i was so lose to the end of my contract that the cancellation fee would make no difference, but i could have been someone else who told me this as i had spoken to so many people at that stage. It was now the middle of december already, but filled with confidence i went to the new club, ready to transfer. When i got to the new club they sold me on a new contract, calculated my fees l, advised that the transfer would go through immediately for a transfer fee of R200.00 and to my delight i was told that my first deduction would only be in january, a lovely gift from planet fitness over the holiday season. Imagine my shock when my finely tuned holiday budget came crashing to pieces when the full fee from my old club was deducted. I lodged a query again as there had been a clear misrepresentation, why did no one tell me that another amount would be deducted? When i received my call back i was told that that's just the way it is and sorry for you, not even a possibility of a pro rata amount. Cost wise i would have been much better off canceling at the end of november as i would have been able to join the new club for free, miss out on the stupid transfer fee, and would still gave gotten my free month, even with the camceltion fee. Even canceling i december would gave been better due to the transfer fee. But absolutely no one could give me any proper advise at any stage, or just tell me what i could expect to pay. Please planet fitness, take the extra money i ended up paying and invest in staff training.
