Membership termination misinformation

I am a member at one of your Justgym franchises in Bellville Cape Town. I am about to relocate and requested a staff member at the club to terminate my month-to-month contract. I was advised that I should contact the customer service call centre and that it would occur with immediate effect. I made contact with the call centre today where I was advised that there is a 1 month notice period and that I will still be liable for payment in January even though I will not be using the gym for that month. The fact that I am liable for an extra month's payment is beyond ridiculous and what is the purpose of the month-to-month payment if I there is a \notice period"Also"
