Member Freeze, **** poor Communication -
My Contract with PF came to and end in July 2020.
I communicated to them via email prior to the end date of my contract that I DO NOT with to renew. (This was during Lockdown, before Gyms had opened)
I did not get any comms back with regards to "not renewing". In fact, I did not even receive comms from them about them Freezing the memberships.
I understand Covid has affected membership contracts... I dont dispute the fact that they and the rest of the country had been affected by this. But the lack of communication was very unprofessional from such a massive competitor in the industry.
Moving On.
In August, I got a call from a consultant trying to ask me about my vitality... (This after numerous mails was sent to the Gym Manager, Info address, etc... They werent even aware that I had communicated that I don't plan on renewing.
When I notified the consultant of my plans to cancel. She was kind enough to send me an email on the cancellation process... She mentioned in her email that i was still in the "Minimum Duration of this Membership" and that i was supposed to pay them a settlement fee of R1598...
Anyways, At this point I was frustrated with them as I asked them in Numerous email to not debit me, while I investigate the legalities of their Supposed Membership Freeze, which they never even communicated"
Anyways. That was ignored.. They ended up Debiting me twice for that month... So i got on the phone, The call centre agents weren't properly trained to handle these kind of issues... 9Which wasnt an issue, as im sure they were also trying to manage what was happening with everyones memberships, etc.)
So i requested Legal to call me.. No Response, Sent more emails... No Response.
After being on the phone for an hour with the banks, trying to reverse the debit and paying penalty fees... I also put a stop order in, so that they would stop debiting me... I let the matter drop thinking it wont happen again...
This morning I woke up with more Debits going off on my account... And i had to follow the same process... again... paying penalty charges again...
My problem is this... Am i going to have f*cking go through this process every month, before they start effectively dealing with this kind of situation or what? How are they mitigating risk and their image as a brand???
Like the service has been super poor, the communication has been **** poor... And with during Covid no less as well when people of walks of life has been seriously effected financially... Surely, they should have had some proper process in place???
