I joined Planet Fitness Bedfordview many years ago and have renewed m membership multiple times. The last time was last year and I signed up with Sanlam Reality to get a discounted membership fee of R199 per month. Sanlam offered an 80% discount to keep my Planet Fitness membership low.

Planet Fitness increased my membership fee from R199 to R349 per month. THAT'S a 75% jump in fees!!!!

When I queried this with the club directly, they FALSELY told me that Sanlam changed their rules. When I spoke to Sanlam, they confirmed I was still on 80% discount level.

Not only did the club blatantly lie to me, but they also increased my fees with an exorbitant amount.

Where in the world does any company justify a jump of 75% in fees? This borders on ********!!!!!

When I called the PF call centre, the lady on the other side was clearly already irritated with me just because I dare to question their ridiculous jump in fees. She kept on saying "we communicated this to you".

I am not disputing the fact that you communicated it to me. Even if I queried it after the communication, you would still have an ARROGANT attitude and would have told me I signed a contract.

I queried the increase with the call centre the previous day and the agent's attitude was "well this is what we have done and you must just live with it"

What a sorrow excuse for a company if you can unilaterally just increase fees by 75% and not care about how your customers are impacted!!

You should be named and shamed!! But looking at all the complaints on hellopeter, and your trust index which is under 2 out of 10, I am NOT surprised.

Why the hell to gyms keep on getting away with this type of behavior? I thin a consumer council investigation is necessary into your fitness to hold a license to operate a gym!!
