Irritated memeber

I received and SMS at the end of January to enjoy a free gym session as I was a member for a long time at Planet Fitness I wanted to know if it was still the same old gym that I was a member for 18 years, the sales person came to talk to me and said if I joined that day, 1st February I would not have to pay the R1725.00 joining fee, and as I had only paid the joining fee at Virgin less than a year prior as a Discovery member I was happy to join on the condition if I signed on the 1st February I still had to give a months notice at Virgin that I would still qualify for the no joining fee to transfer from a normal member to a discovery member, Both the sales manager and the sales person confirmed that that would not be an issue. On the 1st March I went to transfer my normal membership to discovery membership and was told that I had to pay the R1725.00 joining fee, so I spoke to the manager at the gym and he only came back to me 4 months later with “the fee stands” So after spending a long time on the phone today to the call centre and then head office, I decided I was not going to get anywhere with this business, I decided to pay the R1725.00 only to be told it’s R1825.00 as I need a new tag. I am so fed up. I would not have joined if I had to pay a joining fee as I already had a contract with Virgin Active. it would have been cheaper for me to pay the R100.00 per month for a black tag for my gym buddy that get involved with all this irritation.
