Incorrect information provided

1 Year ago i signed a contract with Planet fitness for Gym membership. The consultant that assisted me advised that the membership was only for a year, after a year the contract would be terminated. ( I asked this consultant if he is sure as my colleague had also signed up for a contract and hers was for 2 years.) he then advised that yes it is correct- i only have a 1 year contract with them. Now when I contacted Planet fitness I was advised that I actually signed a 2 year contract. I then advised the person on the telephone of what the consultant had told me, all that she said was that i was given the wrong information. Now it becomes my problem to pay additional charges/fees for wanting to terminate the contract. this is not right- It was not my mistake. Why should I be paying extra fees for being misled and **** to. Planet fitness should be responsible for paying these extra fees/charges for providing me with incorrect information- just to have their product sold. Very bad service-- Clearly this is a company that cannot be trusted. The consultant probably thought that after 1 year I wouldn`t be wondering where my money was going to, but he was wrong.
