How poorly Planet Fitness South Africa treats their clients

So I had a active gym account at Planet Fitness Centurion, Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa till the 2nd December 2018 if I remember correctly when I phoned them to tell them I will be canceling my contract with them...

They asked me why and all the questions they usually do and try to change your mind to keep it going. At the end of the day I canceled it and was told that it has to be given a month (months notice) before they can be able to cancel it and so on. Which I understood and told them I understand it and will then let the last month pay be deducted from my account.

Come 4 December 2018, I remembered that the one friend of mine signed up to the same gym as I was a member of and on his contract he said that I was the person who referred him and by then the promotion at the gym I was in was that IF someone signs a contract with the gym for 2 years and says that you referred him/her that the person (being me) gets a month free from any deductions. So basically a month free gym.

So as it was 2 days after I phoned them initially to cancel my contract with them I phoned them again to inform them that they never gave me that 1 month free and to ask if it is possible to make that free month the last month so that I dont have to pay that last month i.e December 2018.

The lady who answered me said that it was no problem and that she would put it on the system as such after giving her my friends name & surname, place he gyms and around the date he started at the gym and signed the contract.

Few months down the line after thinking its fine and sorted now and they accepted it all I start getting phone calls from them saying I have to pay my account that is in arrears before legal steps are taken against me...So I go through the whole speech with all (appears to be the whole call center) of them telling them the same thing and even telling them I also have a recorder running on my side recording the conversation and all previous conversations of where they agreed of the month free. And every person I talked to told me that they will sort it out.

Few days ago I got a phone call from some legal service that Planet Fitness has going on and tells me the same thing as the call center and I tell him my side as well.

So I am getting pretty fed up with this calls and threats from Planets Fitness and their legal service.

So I will never recommend anyone to join Planet Fitness as this is how they try to ****** money from someone by bullying and threatening the person without them doing their part of the contract/specials.
