Get your house in order; Planet Fitness

<p>I moved to Witbank from Jhb in 2013 for work reasons and opened an account with Planet fitness there. I paid the full amount for a yearly subscription upfront. The figure was between R3k and R4k. For some reason about 3 months into the agreement I started encountering problems and could not work out as I kept being told I was in arrears, which didn’t make sense as I paid the full amount upfront. I was then told there was a R650 fee addition I had to pay. I paid it, but still my account was giving me issues. I stopped using the Planet Fitness facilities due to my frustrations. I complained on HELLOPETER and belatedly got a call from someone at Planet Fitness HO admitting they made a mistake on my account and this was also confirmed by the Manager on site. We agreed that the old contract would be completely s****ped and that I would sign a month to month contract as I had indicated to them by then that I was due back in Jhb any day now. I paid the first month and upon moving back to Jhb informed Planet Fitness to cancel my contract as I was moving back to Jhb. A few months later (due to an administrative bungle up I am sure) I got a call saying I owed Planet Fitness money. My reaction was the same as it is now. FOR WHAT? I did not use Planet Fitness facilities as I was already back in Jhb. I was on a monthly rolling contract and had informed them to cancel my contract. Now I am getting letter of deman from their lawyers threatening me with legal action if I don't pay them R12 200 within 7 days. So where and how exactly has this R12 200 been arrived at? In any case this being a monthly contract the most I could have been liable for is perhaps a month or two at best. Planet Fitness committed serious errors in dealing with my account from day one and I have this on record. From where I stand I am in no way liable to Planet Fitness (other than perhaps what may be minor admin fees). So can Planet Fitness explain to me why they have consistently *****ed up my accoujnt from Day one (admitted to it) and now trying to bully me into paying amounts I don't owe them. They need to get their house in order and leave me alone.</p>
