Frustration with Transfer from Meadowdale to Greenstone

Sifiso here, who is a Member of the Planet Fitness in Meadowdale. I need your assistance please. I am formerly a Member of the My Gym Facility that was at Greenstone Mall for years and when it moved I signed up with the Planet Fitness in Meadowdale on a 12 months contract for around R349.00 per month, this was a discounted package. My intention on getting this Membership was to stay in shape until the Greenstone Planetfitness opened up as I live 2km away from the Greenstone Mall.

I called the Call Centre to do this transfer and was informed prior by Staff Members of the Planet Fitness Gym in Greenstone that this would be charged. I understood that. I have just called the Call Centre and they informed me that the type of Membership that I took at Meadowdale is not transferable, it can only be cancelled. The cancellation fee is R2094.00. Now this for me is not acceptable and my intention is to continue using a Planet Fitness Facility for the foreseeable future. I would totally understand a cancellation fee being charged if I was opting to join the Virgin Active in Stoneridge that is just across the road from the Greenstone Mall.

Now as it stands, I am either forced to pay R2094.00 immediately and then go sign up with another Gym within the area, or continue to pay my Meadowdale Membership Month to Month until it expires. I honestly see this as a horrible Customer Experience which will create a long-time bad memory of dealing with Planet Fitness. The best scenario would be to pay whatever transfer fee within reason and then implement the new Greenstone monthly fee on my profile (Which during this weekend at the Greenstone Branch I was told would be R700.00 and the Call Centre this morning told me about R999.00). As things stand, I am going to utilise the Gym in my Estate until further notice (I was not able to Gym today as I was trying to sort out this impossible transfer).
