False Advesting - Planet Fitness Fourways

My name is Bongi Mofomate, and I recently signed up for a gym membership at Planet Fitness, moving from a long-standing relationship with Virgin Active.

At the time of signing up, I specifically inquired about parking and was clearly informed that parking would be free and that tickets would be validated. Based on this information, I made the decision to join Planet Fitness.

However, I have since reviewed my Admyt account and discovered that I have been charged for parking on multiple occasions where my visits exceeded 90 minutes. As you are aware, a typical gym session — including workout, shower, and perhaps purchasing a coffee — easily goes beyond 90 minutes. The facilities themselves encourage this kind of use.

This limited parking policy was never disclosed during sign-up, and I believe this constitutes misleading and/or false advertising. Had I been informed about these charges, I may have chosen to remain with my previous gym.

As a result, I am requesting the following:

A review of the current 90-minute parking limit for members.

Implementation of truly free parking, as promised during sign-up, or an appropriate adjustment that covers a reasonable visit duration.

Failing that, I request the immediate cancellation of my contract, as I believe this constitutes a material omission under the Consumer Protection Act (Act 68 of 2008).

I would appreciate a prompt response and a fair resolution to this matter.
