False advertising and fee payable for unused membership

I did not want a long term contract with them, the instructor reassured me that it will be a month to month contract however I still need to activate the debit order as they don't have a cash policy nay longer due to theft. So I joined and paid the Tag fee which was suppose to be my winning ticket for the day. I have never tagged in to the gym and because of my employment, I decided to cancel the membership.

To my Suprise:

1.When I joined and agreed to the agreement I specifically told Bokang who was the instructor helping me that I don't want a long term contract and he confirmed that it will be a month to month contract; 2. Due to the contract falling under "prorata"option the debit order will only be effective February 2019, I was still surprised and he confirmed that I can still enjoy the benefits of January and February..... 3. I called him on 18 January 2019 and he stated that there was an error on the administration level as there are about 10 people who called and complained about the same issue....... "FALSE ADVERTISING"

Now they want me to R2 092.80 before the membership can be cancelled which I feel I am not liable. If they can substantiate what this amount entail maybe I can reconsider!!!!
