Failure to notice!

I've been with Planet Fitness for a few years now, with no problems until my 2 year contract with them expired/ended. I was told initially when I signed that when the contract ends I can then renew it at my discretion. PF continued to debit me even after my contract ended. At this point I hadn't realized my contract had ended so I let PF continue to debit me, mind you I wasn't going to the gym. I had stopped going regularly because I had started a new job and going to centurion gate branch was no longer convenient. In Jan 2019 I think it was, I reversed a payment because I Then realized my contract had ended and I didn't understand why I still was being debited, also I wasn't going to the gym so I basically donating my money. I continued reversing the payment for end feb and in March. I had called in feb to find out why I'm being debited even though my contract had ended. They told me I was on a month to month contract as my 2 year contract had expired. I asked them to cancel it and I was told they will. I call them again today to ask why this month to month contract was not cancelled and why I was debited Im Then told its because I need to serve my notice period. I'm confused because this is a month to month contract. I tell the gent-man I was specking to over the phone that I wasn't even aware that I was now on a month to month until I called in feb now Im told I have to pay for the notice period as well as all the money I had reversed.

Then I start questioning why I not notified that my 2 year contract had ended in the first place because I would have canceled it than. I was told I was on the 17th of Feb 2018 via SMS, I don't remember seeing this SMS so I ask the gent-man to send me a screenshot. On the screenshot the delivery status for all the SMS they sent me are marked as delivered apart form 2 which one of them happen to be the SMS that notify s me that I'm now on a month to month contract. This is marked as expired. I question that and he says he doesn't know but the sms was sent. Right. I don't know about you but you but, expired to me would suggest the sms did not reach its destination. l told them I wanted to cancel the the month to month. But again I was debited with all the money I 'owed' them from the reversals I had done and that I WILL AGAIN BE DEBITED at the end of the month!

What madness is this? I need answers this does not make sense to me at all!
