Don't join Planet Fitness, you are just a number to them
Around July last year I got a notification from my bank that there was ********** activity on my bank account so I had to freeze my account. For that reason a lot of companies, including Planet Fitness, where unable to debit my account that month. The following month, I was debited twice, or notified by other companies that I am in arrears, and I immediately fixed things with these companies. Planet Fitness on the other hand did not send me any notification so I assumed they had double debited and that everything was okay. Then, without any warning letter or sms or email or anything, I got a message saying that I was handed over to attorneys, less than 3 months after my debit/***** fiasco. I am extremely unhappy with Planet Fitness that they did not take the necessary steps in order to give me a chance to fix the issue with them, and that they gleefully handed me over within a very short space of time. Then, around September/October last year, I called Planet Fitness and expressed these same sentiments, as well as my desire to cancel my membership at the end of the year, as I had joined in December 2016. My wishes were not respected, and the law firm they have handed me over to have continued to escalate my bills to date. I am not sitting at a giant R2000 + in debt because Planet Fitness did not have the courtesy to sort out their issues with me, and instead handed me over to some law firm. That tells me that I am not a valued customer to them at all. That at the first chance they got, they ditched me to be taken care of by someone else. I am extremely disappointed, and would like for the amount I owe to reflect that my contract ended in December as I asked for in my phone call with them in October of last year.
