Don't even attempt to sign-up with Planet Fitness

I signed up on an 18 month contract with Planet Fitness in February 2016 which expired in June 2017. I stopped going to the gym some months before the expiry of the contract due to overcrowding at their Newtown branch and equipment that was not up to standard but continued to pay my subscription until my contract expired. I spoke to one of their salesman at their Newtown branch and he told me that they can only renew my contract automatically once they pick up on their system that I am still an active member, other than that my contract will cease to exist upon the expiry date. To my surprise, the debit orders continued post the expiry of the contract and when I called their contact centre, the lady promised to get the branch manager to call me back and none of that happened. I then switched banks to avoid losing money over services that I stopped using months before my contract expired. Now I am being harassed by some Thandeka Banda from debt collecting company called Saya Recoveries who are collecting monies owed on behalf on Planet Fitness. I have to say that Planet Fitness seem to be running some money making scheme, milking innocent people of their hard earned cash. disgusting service
