debit order goes off after contract is cancelled

My contract has been expired i was told i can carry on until i want to cancel it completely, i phoned planet fitness they told me i must send a mail to the service centre, had no response, phoned them again where i were told they will send a request threw and my contract will be cancelled, and still the debit order went off, this is ridiculous
