Crime and Service at Planet Fitness Queenswood, Pretoria.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my profound disappointment and concern regarding the recent deteriorating conditions and safety hazards at Planet Fitness Queenswood, Pretoria. As a loyal member since 2021, I have witnessed the gradual decline in facilities and service quality, culminating in a series of distressing incidents that have compelled me to voice my grievances.

Since September 2023, the gym has been plagued by a malfunctioning air conditioning system, subjecting members to uncomfortable and sweltering conditions for an extended period. While temporary measures were eventually implemented, it only marginally alleviated the issue, demonstrating a lack of urgency and efficiency in addressing fundamental facility maintenance.

However, the recent events in mid-March 2024 have highlighted far graver concerns regarding member safety and security. On multiple occasions within a single week, essential amenities such as the sauna and showers were out of order, significantly impacting the overall gym experience. More distressingly, I became a victim of theft when my cellphone was ********ly taken from my gym bag although I had a lock on my locker.

Despite promptly reporting the incident to the management, their response was disappointingly inadequate. Merely being asked to fill out a form and being informed of the absence of security cameras in the men's locker rooms does little to address the systemic issues contributing to such breaches of safety. Moreover, encountering other members who shared similar accounts of theft further underscores the gravity of the situation.

It is abundantly clear that Planet Fitness Queenswood is facing a pervasive crime problem, which has not been effectively communicated to the members nor adequately addressed by the management. The lack of proactive measures to ensure member safety is not only negligent but also undermines the trust and security that should be inherent in any fitness facility.

Furthermore, the unsatisfactory response from the customer service team upon my decision to terminate my membership is deeply disappointing. Being informed that I must pay for another month's membership despite legitimate concerns for my safety and well-being only exacerbates my disillusionment with the establishment.

As much as it pains me to sever ties with a gym where I have forged meaningful connections within the community, the prevailing circumstances leave me with no choice but to seek alternative fitness options that prioritize the safety and satisfaction of their members.

I urge the management of Planet Fitness Queenswood to take immediate and decisive action to address the underlying issues of safety and security within the facility. Members deserve better than to feel vulnerable and disregarded in their pursuit of health and fitness.

Sincerely, Carel.
