Contract *******

When I signed up, I was promised by the branch manager that "if I sign a 2 year contract today, that I can download to a 1 year contract at any time". I am emigrating now and haven't even used up my first 12 months. I called to firstly, downgrade to a 1 year contract, only to find out that this is not possible. Now I am told that in order to cancel my contract, I need to pay for the remainder 15 months!!! Now I need to pay for an entire year for a service I will not even be able to use. This feels like ******* to me on a grand scale! Cannot believe a branch manager can lie to people like this.
