Can’t get a simple answer out of anyone

I am very annoyed by Planet Fitness (and Saya Recoveries). My husband and I cancelled our contracts as he was retrenched last year and we couldn’t afford ‘luxury’ things anymore. A few months later I received an sms from Planet Fitness saying legal action would be taken against me as I owe money somehow (the contracts were paid from my husbands account). I then sent a mail to Planet Fitness as soon as I received the sms asking why and what the amount is. Not once was another mail sent to me or even an invoice or something as to why I owe money or how much which I would have expected if there was an issue. I then mailed to query this. I then received an email saying ‘sorry to see you go’ and details for if I want to stay on at a discounted rate (this was in December 2018). Still my question was not answered. Then early January I received an sms from Saya saying I have been handed over to them so I phoned Saya and was told someone would phone me back which never happened. Two weeks later I sent an email asking the same questions and still no-one came back to me. Now a few months later as I was looking for another mail I found a threatening mail from Saya saying I must pay and I immediately rep**** asking what is the amount (as it doesn’t help sending me banking details but no amount which is owed). That was over a week ago and still no reply. I still want to know why I owe this money and why on earth can no-one get back to me with the amount? I find this completely unprofessional as it is apparently too difficult to give a simple answer to ‘why and how much?’ and now I am being threatened with a bad credit rating?
