BAD SERVICE!!! from planet fitness

I cancelled my membership with Planetfitness a year ago and had no outstanding fees. Since I left the gym I have never had any of the agents calling to say that I had outstanding fees and suddenly now a year later I get an sms saying that my planetfitness account has been handed over to attorneys. I tried calling the number but was in queue for almost 10 minutes with no prevail. I then called plannetfitness and was told by the agent who answered that I need to call the call center or come to the gym to get the issue sorted. When calling the call center, it is never answered. I honestly don't see why I have to go through sunch length to correct someone elses fault. I don't recall having any outstanding fees but if there were any. Why was I not consulted about it this whole time and only now get an sms about being handed over to attorneys?
