Bad service

So couple of years ago, I joined the planet fitness group then I was clearly told it's a two year contract, in which I agreed to the terms and condition and signed in, after the 2years elapsed I got a promotion and moved out of that area, it was at moreleta village, and I move to Brooklyn job wise prior to leaving I went to the gym and explained that I was leaving and so forth, the lady at the help desk didn't say anything she took my details in what seemed like she was making notes of some sorts, a year later after not using their facilities and getting no messages from them, know a bill gets sent my way, I called in they then tell me I need to contact head office given that my contract got renewed after two years, I was amazed shocked and traumatized by this, so apparently the contract that I signed was on auto renew, it doesn't require my signature or nothing it's a life sentence, know they be calling me once in a blue moon stating that I owe them plus grand for services ive never used.... They never contacted me for this whole time and get my concent or why I wasn't coming to the gym, they just waited until the money was on two grand and then contact me, there's no email of any sort of communication sent forward to myself upon them renewing that contract or atleast reminding me that they are renewing
