I don't normally write negative reviews unless a situation has reached such a state of deterioration that it necessitates one. I'm afraid that this is indeed the case regarding Planet's Parklands Club in the Western Cape. Basic maintenance has been sorely neglected to the extent that the wet areas in particular are in a disgraceful condition: 1) The training pool temperature is currently only 20 degrees & dropping. It's Winter in Cape Town & the temperature should be successfully maintained at a minimum of at least 27 degrees. 2) The steam room is either out of order or too cold - you can easily remain in there for 30/40 minutes when you should not be able to endure longer than 5-10 minutes at a time. The absence of a proper hosepipe for cleanliness also makes the steam room a very unhygienic place. 3) Broken taps, tiles & luke warm water in the showers. Come on guys, it's Winter & it doesn't get more basic & fundamental than the need for a hot shower after a workout. Furthermore, after resolving the next issue with the previous club manager, I see that it has unfortunately reared its ugly head again: the cleaning staff are using electrical equipment (a floor polisher & a vacuum cleaner) around the edge of the pool! This is EXTREMELY dangerous for the safety the swimmers & on a prior occasion, I noticed that an electrical cord was dangling in the Aqua pool whilst children were swimming in there. I went absolutely ballistic about it at the time & immediately pulled those kids out of the water. I have tried twice to resolve the aforesaid issues with PF directly but both of my emails (the first sent two weeks ago) were not responded to - other than the customary automated response acknowledging receipt thereof. I feel incredibly frustrated because I do not believe that PF takes the complaints of its existing members seriously & treats Parklands as a budget gym while other branches like the newly opened club in Cavendish Square, Claremont seem to receive preferential attention. Visiting a gym is supposed to be a pleasant & rewarding experience & I'm afraid that this is certainly not the case at PF Parklands anymore. Extremely disappointed by Planet's lack of care & empathy towards the concerns of its members.
