I am writing this review to document the ongoing labour law violations and unfair treatment at this company. 1. Salaries Are Consistently Paid Late Today is the 10th of September, and I have still not been paid. This is not an isolated incident, every pay day, our payment is delayed. 2. ******** Deductions for Alleged Stock Losses Last month, all employees had R1,500 deducted from our salaries because management claimed stock was missing. However, stock take is conducted every single day, and there is no record of any missing stock. In terms of Section 34 of the BCEA, an employer may not make deductions from an employee's remuneration without the employee's written consent, unless the deduction is required by law or a court order. Furthermore, even where a deduction for loss is contemplated, the employer must follow a fair procedure and give the employee an opportunity to explain why the deduction should not be made. This has not happened. 3. Refusal to Issue Payslips We are denied payslips, which means we cannot even see what deductions are being made from our wages. 4. Misrepresentation of Labour Law When confronted, management sent voice notes threatening that "labour law states the employer can delay payment." This is a misrepresentation of the law. While the BCEA permits payment up to seven days after the pay period ends, it does not grant employers the right to arbitrarily delay salaries or withhold them based on suspicion. Myself and fellow employees, together with previous employees, intend to pursue this matter with the CCMA and the Department of Employment and Labour.
