Bad Service I received at Dr Pixley Ka Seme Hospital

I would like to complain about the bad treatment and service I got at Pixley Ka Seme Hospital in Bridge city on 10/10/2024.

I have been experiencing back pains from last week Sunday, in such a way that when I went to work today I could not work due to the severe back pains.

I went to Dr. A****aker who then referred me to a hospital near where I stay, because he could not find anything that was causing the pains and said may I have an issue with my uterus.

When I got to the hospital around 18:30pm my husband went to get the wheelchair because I'm also struggling to walk. When we got to the casualty another guy I'm assuming it was the male nurse asked what was wrong, my husband then explained everything, he then said they haveto check my vitel signs. I was then asked to enter into another room. Then another lady by the name of Noxolo "Xolo" came without even greeting us, and said "abaphelezelayo bama ngaphandle", my husband left. She took the BP machine said I should raise my arm she then switched on the machine and left me in the room without saying anything, until the machine switched off. I think she came back after 5-8 minutes.

Few minutes later then a lady doctor came and greeted me and asked what is wrong, then Xolo also came. Xolo then asked if I'm wearing a bra that has metal, l then said yes. She said I must take off my bra, without informing me on the next process or step. She then said l should raise my t-shirt and she app**** stickers that have strings on them, when I was blocking my breasts, she then said, "Angifuni amabele akho sisi, ngifuna isifuba sakho" she app**** those strings, she then left. The doctor made me stand up, she made me try to walk to see where the pain was coming from. She explained that the vitel signs will guide them to determine whether I should go to Poly clinic or not. She said I will get my urine checked out and get an injection to numb the pain, and I need to go to Poly Clinic since everything seems to be fine, she then said if nothing is alarming with my urine I will definitely need to go to the local clinic and get X-rays done, and a sick note for work if needed.

The level noise at the casualty was disturbing, in such a way that another guy told his fellow colleagues that the level of noise is too much, they will make patients feel even more ill. They were busy complaining about the hospital saying "ay lendawo iyabheda, abakaze basibone isibhedlela esinje" in such a way that the very same Xolo said she wants a transfer to another hospital kungcono azincelisele ingane yakhe yena abe eseduzane nekhaya ngoba akaze asibone isibhedlela ezinjena. She then said amaInterviews awenziwa ePixley for employees.

After the doctor said I will get an injection and my urine checked out she then left me. I waited and waited for Xolo to come back close to 15-20 minutes, when she came back she said, "Ngiyaxolisa, bengisenza amaCopy" I remained quiet, she then removed the stickers and said I should wear my bra again. She asked me a fews questions about my age, date of birth, whether have l had any operations done, when did my pain start. After asking those questions she then opened the curtains, pushed the trolley that carries all the equipment and left me without saying anything.

She went back to her colleagues and carried on with having a nice chat with them on how unfair they are treated, and another fellow employee said today is mental health day. A few minutes later I heard her asking her colleague whether is she not giving her any paper, the colleague responded by saying no there's no paper I'm going to give you.

A few minutes later I heard her saying, "Othi ngifonele iSecurity ngimtshele abize ubhuti ofike nosisi lana" I remained quiet, my urine has not been checked, I have not received any injection. Next thing l heard her calling the security and informed him to ask my husband to come and fetch me.

When my husband came, I said please ask them about the injection and the urine test they said they will conduct. The doctor then came to me and said but I explained that you will get the injection at Poly Clinic, l then said that is not what I heard you say.

When my husband informed them that abenzi kahle I was near the exit door where a Coloured nurse tried to help and said am I okay, then I shouted and said I not happy with the service I'm receiving here, I told her about my experience she then pushed me back to casualty, that's where I shouted and told them that I'm not happy about the treatment that I've been receiving from the word go, what was supposed to be done was not done. Then another thin lady came to me and said but Xolo did apologize l then told her that she only apologized when she left me close to 20 minutes and said she went to do copies. She said l must not shout, I then told the thin lady that she should not tell me not to shout, because they were also shouting and making noise and having a good laugh while they are on duty in such a way that their colleague reprimanded them to keep the noise level down because they will make patients more ill. The thin lady then said, "Ay animuthathe umchamo omunye umntwana mhlampe uzohamba", I got more mad about her tone because she really sounded sarcastic, I then said, "Akuyona indlela yokukhuluma nomuntu leyo", she then said, "Angishongo njalo, ngithe muthatheni umchamo omunye umntwana, mhlampe uzosizala" I then told her she must not change her statement, she then said, "I will not entertain this", and brush her hand in the air. Then I also told her that I will also not entertain her attitude. She then walked away.

The Coloured nurse then took me to a different room, she took me to the toilet and tested my urine. Then doctor came and told me that she apologizes for this treatment she thought everything was done accordingly because on her side it was ticked that the urine test was done, she didn't know that it was not done.

How can someone mistreat a patient like this, how can someone be so negligent with her job, why did she lie and tick that my urine was checked whereas it was not checked. What if my urine actually had a problem and then I left without having it checked out.

I work with people on a daily basis, this is not a way to treat people, the doctor came to me to inform me that my urine is clear, and that she did explain to me from the beginning on how they work as a hospital. I informed her that I'm not disputing their process, I told her I'm not refusing to go to the local clinic, I heard what she initially explained, I'm angry about the mistreatment because had this been a white or Indian person they were going to be treated fairly, and Xolo was going to update them with all processes and treat them with a smile.

I am not happy about the way I was treated, I'm not happy about not being treated fairly. I'm even more upset and disappointed about the fact that we come to a hospital to get proper Healthcare, but you find yourself in a negative and toxic environment where employees are complaining about the workplace itself. How do you expect someone to assist you with love and care whereas they themselves are complaining about how they hate to be where they are.

Please look into this, I did not go there because I was playing games, I went there because I am honestly ill, to have someone who does not care about their job so much upsets me.
