Quality of Pirelli tyres

I am so much disappointed with the quality of this brand of tyres. I fitted 4x new tyres on my BMW station wagon. While driving heard a loud bang on my rear tyres on investigation the whole middle part was **********. I could have lost control of the vehicle resulting to loss of life.
