Treated unfairly

I moved from the Eastern Cape to Gauteng, came into contact with an agent called Karin from the Piek Team. I saw a fully furnished place in Candlewood that I wanted to rent for 2 months. I especially asked if the place was animal friendly as I have a boerboel. She assured me it was fine. I paid over the deposit and 1 months rental which came to around 41k. When I arrived at Candlewood the permiter was not closed off and the wall was knee high not safe at all or secure for my dog to be with the boundary wall. This lead to me asking that I be released from my lease contract. The owner payed over my deposit but I was unable to live there for the month so I was held liable for R19 500 rental! This is so unfair the rental agency should be held liable for their mistake and I should not be held responsible for her error!
