table wasn't booked as requested

On thursday 12 feb, I phoned the restaurant to book a specific table to celebrate my anniversary on the 13th of feb, when we arrive at the restaurant, the table had not been booked and the person who took the booking the previous day was not there, already quite upset at this, we asked to speak to a manager, 2 of them said that they do not do bookings, which I thought to be a lie as if that was the case, why wasn't I told when I phoned for the booking, highly upset we left the restaurant and went somewhere else, I would like to know why the table was never booked, and why was I told when I got there only that they do not do bookings? Seriously peeved
