SMOKING IN PUBLIC

Today I popped in to the Piatto Restaurant for a cup of coffee and a bite. Shortly after I arrived a few other patrons arrived and sat at a table no more than two metres from where I was seated. Within about 15mins the one patron lit up a cigarette and proceeded to smoke. The area in which I was seated was not designated as a smoking area or unless I overlooked it. I was under the impression that the smoking laws had changed. This area was inside the building without any enclosure. In fact the whole area under roof had ashtrays on the tables. Surely this is not allowed and especially in public areas? I will definitely not visit this venue ever again.
